Clan Warriors a roaring success!

A crowd of over 4,000 surged to the National War Museum for an 18th century duel last weekend.

Each day began with a piping demonstration from the Army School of Bagpipe Music and Highland Drumming. Next was the Macdonald Academy of Arms who demonstrated the weapons and tactics that were used by the Jacobite soldiers during the 18th century.

At each performance, one lucky soul volunteered for the Jacobite army and was dressed in the traditional costume and weaponry. The watching crowd were supplied with imaginary firearms and happily pretended they were carrying a musket and shouted a collective "bang!"

The finale of each show was the sword fighting. The Master at Arms cried out “Do you want to see a fight?” and the crowd responded with a bloodthirsty "Yes!".

What ensued has was a feisty contest between two swordsman testing each others skills and wits. The clash of steel rang around Hospital Square until a cutting blow was delivered!
