Gaelic Language Plan / Plana Gàidhlig

National Museums Scotland has introduced a Gaelic Language Plan.

The 3-year plan was developed following public consultation and has been approved by Bòrd na Gàidhlig. It will underpin National Museums’ commitment to contribute to the sustainability of the Gaelic language.

Dr Gordon Rintoul, Director of National Museums Scotland, said:

"This plan sits within the context of our vision for National Museums Scotland – Inspiring people, connecting Scotland to the world and the world to Scotland. In particular the plan will help us to develop resources relating to adult learning and Gaelic Medium Education, and this fits well with the strong formal and informal learning opportunities on offer at all our museums."

John Angus MacKay, Bòrd na Gàidhlig Ceannard (CEO), said:

"National Museums Scotland plays a vital role in exhibiting and maintaining Scotland's wealth of history, of which the Gaelic language and culture is an integral part.  National Museums Scotland has significant potential to give a national and international platform to the language, and this can now be realised through the implementation of their first Gaelic Plan. This is good for Gaelic and good for Scotland."

National Museums Scotland has actively supported the Gaelic language including providing Gaelic commentary in some galleries, provision of the museum map in Gaelic and providing dual interpretation for appropriate exhibitions, including the Lewis Chessmen Unmasked exhibition in 2010. The Gaelic Language Plan formalises this support and ensures due consideration of Gaelic language provision.

Taighean-tasgaidh Nàiseanta a' cur Plana Gàidhlig air bhog

Tha Taighean-tasgaidh Nàiseanta Alba air a' chiad Phlana Gàidhlig.

Chaidh am plana trì-bliadhna a dheasachadh a rèir co-chomhairle phoblach agus chaidh aontachadh ris le Bòrd na Gàidhlig. Bidh e na bhun-stèidh dha oidhirp nan Taighean-tasgaidh a chum suidheachadh seasmhach a chruthachadh don Ghàidhlig.

Thuirt Stiùiriche Thaighean-tasgaidh Nàiseanta Alba, An Dr Gòrdan Rintoul:

"Chruthachadh am plana seo an co-theagasg ar n-àrd-amas son nan Taighean-tasgaidh Nàiseanta - gu bhith a' brosnachadh dhaoine, a' ceangal Alba ris an t-saoghal agus an t-saoghail ri Alba. Bidh am plana na chuideachadh gu h-àraidh a thaobh cruthachadh ghoireasan ionnsachaidh dha inbhich agus dha Foghlam tro Mheadhan na Gàidhlig; mar phàirt dhe na cothroman ionnsachaidh foirmeil agus neo-fhoirmeil a gheibhear aig na taighean-tasgaidh againn."

Thuirt Ceannard Bhòrd na Gàidhlig, Iain Aonghas MacAoidh:

"Tha obair gu math cudromach aig Taighean-tasgaidh Nàiseanta Alba ann a bhith a' glèidheil agus a' taisbeanadh eachdraidh bheartach na h-Alba; le àite mhòr aig a' Gàidhlig is ar dualchas Gàidhealach innte. Tha cothrom dha-rìribh aig Taighean-tasgaidh Nàiseanta Alba a' Ghàidhlig a chur air an àrd-ùrlar aig ìre nàiseanta agus eadar-nàiseanta, agus faodar seo tachairt tron Phlana Ghàidhlig seo. Bidh seo na bhuannachd dhan Ghàidhlig agus dha Alba."

Tha Taighean-tasgaidh Nàiseanta Alba air taic a chumail ris a' Ghàidhlig gu seo an diofar dhòighean; le co-aithrisean Gàidhlig aig cuid de ghailearaidhean, le mapa Gàidhlig taigh-thasgaidh agus le eadar-mhìneachadh dà-chànanach aig taisbeanaidhean a leithid Fir-tàilisg Leòdhais: Foillsichte ann an 2010. Tha am Plana Gàidhlig a' daingneachadh na taice seo mar rud foirmeil agus a' dèanamh cinnteach gun toirear suim iomchaidh do chleachdadh na Gàidhlig.
