The excitement is growing
We have now set the opening date for your redeveloped National
Museum of Scotland - Friday 29 July 2011.
A world of discovery will await you with 16
new galleries to explore, showing a dramatic range of treasures
from dinosaurs to designer chairs, and mummies to motor cars.
Getting around the museum will be even easier
with new entrances, glass lifts and escalators and a complete new
floor at street level.

From there, stairs and glass lifts ascend to
the Grand Gallery and the spectacular new Window on the World
featuring over 800 objects rising over four floors, giving a
tantalising taste of our world-class collections.

We’re now counting down to re-opening on 29
July, and our staff have started the mammoth task of installing
nearly 8,000 objects into 16 new galleries.
