Continuing professional development for teachers

Do you want to enhance your own learning and make the most of your class visit? Our varied continuing professional development (CPD) programme may be just what you need!

The programme offers opportunities for you and your pupils to get the most out of our exhibits and resources. Contact one of our Learning and Programmes team to talk about tailor-made programmes for you and your colleagues.

Askasaurus – Dinosaur Discovery

Thurs 11 October, 16:00–18:00

Help fend off all those dinosaur questions by asking the experts. Whether you’ve been a secret stegosaurus fan since you were six or you’re new to the subject come along and discover the real ‘facts’. Join us for a tour of the galleries and get hands on with our new dinosaur collections.

Doctor Livingstone, I presume?

Teachers' Private View, Wed 28 November, 16:00–18:00

Our David Livingstone exhibition marks 200 years since his birth and celebrates our partnership with the Museums of Malawi. What impact did David Livingstone have on modern Malawi and how is he viewed in Malawi today?

Curator of African Collections, Sarah Worden will talk about her research in Malawi and the significance of Scotland and Malawi’s strong cultural relationship.

Teachers' Private View, Thurs 24 January 2013, 16:00–18:00

Recent discoveries are shedding new light on the Viking Age. This unmissable exhibition challenges our conceptions of Viking ritual, mythology and symbolism. Come along to our teachers’ private view; have a guided tour of the exhibition and explore our new Viking resources. You can find out more about the Vikings! exhibition here.
