School visits at the National Museum of Flight
Step back in time at the country’s best-preserved First and
Second World War airfield, home to a rare collection of civil and
military aircraft.
From just an hour to
a full day programme, explore technology or be inspired by history
with our newest exhibitions and collection of aircraft.
- Find out what it was like to serve here in the past in our
Fortunes of War
exhibition, which investigates the First and Second World War
heritage of this airfield, through the experiences of the people
who served here.
- Go interactive in our hands-on Fantastic Flight exhibition. Discover the
science behind flight: how do aircraft fly? How they are built and
what skills do you need to fly them?
- And of course, you can still get up close to our amazing aircraft, and join the jet-set in our
Boeing 707 exhibition and follow in the
footsteps of the rich and famous when you board Concorde!

“[The workshop] brought a reality to our study of the Second
World War which can be difficult to get from text and photos.
Children appreciated the artefacts ‒ and the drill! Very
informative.” Leith Primary School
