Coffins and mummy-masks from Ancient Egypt

Get close up with some of our coffins and mummy-masks from Ancient Egypt.

National Museums Scotland’s Ancient Egyptian coffin collection remains largely unknown and has many exceptional items. Find out about the different coffins from an estate-overseer, the royal burial group from Qurna, the coffin base and mummy of the priest Iufenamun, and the unusual double-coffin of the young half brothers, Petamun and Penhorpabik.

The timeline below shows the age of the different coffins and masks.
