The film was introduced by speakers from National Museums
Scotland and City of Edinburgh Council, Community Learning and
Development and attended by members of the Gude cause organisation
on the eve of the procession.
Guests enjoyed a special Suffragette themed green, white and
violet cake and had a lively discussion about issues sparked off by
the film.
Participants in the Ways of Seeing the Suffragettes
project said:
‘This project has convinced me of the importance of voting in
elections. I will be telling my friends and family that they should
be voting too!’
‘It has been wonderful to have a chance to handle all these
items from the museums' collections, stuff that we would never have
had the chance to see before.’
‘The project enabled me to fit my experiences into a bigger
history.’
‘The project has made me feel like I am part of a broader
movement, I have realised I have a role to play in the bigger
picture of women’s history.’
‘I have really enjoyed the project and it has made me think
about my own place in history.’
