School visits at the National Museum of Costume

Here we answer your questions about visiting the National Museum of Costume with your school group.

Is there parking for our bus / minibus?

There is dedicated, free coach parking on-site.

Is there a space to leave our bags and jackets?

There is a small cloakroom space outside the Education Room.

Where can we eat our lunch?

From November to March, lunch can be eaten in the house. During April to October, lunch can be eaten at picnic tables in the grounds, or in your transport.

Is the space we will be visiting fully accessible?

The ground floor and basement are fully accessible , however, the first floor is not fully accessible (tour only).

You can find full information for visitors with disabilities here.

Do you have a risk assessment we can use?

There are guidelines for teachers to help you write your own risk assessment. Teachers can make a free pre-visit to carry out their risk assessment.

Can I take photographs?

Yes, however, the use of flash is not permitted in the house.

Safety guidelines

Please walk, don’t run through the museum.

Please read and follow any safety notices and instructions from Visitor Services Staff.

We will send you full safety guidelines with your booking form. Please check them before your visit.

Is there a shop / café?

Yes, but please check availability when you make your booking. We take schools all year round but are closed to the public between November and March. We cannot guarantee that the café or shop will be open during this period. (please ensure there is a ratio of 1 adult to 10 children when in shop).
