Viking Training School

Meet our resident Vikings, Sven Roaring Lungs and Ulrika Redhead. Give yourself a Viking name, learn the runic alphabet and receive a certificate signed by the Chief God Odin himself.

Early, Levels 1 and 2 (P1 – P7)
Mon 18 – Thu 21 February
Mon 25 – Thu 28 February
Mon 4 – Thu 7 March
10:30/11:30/12:30 (40 minutes)

What will my pupils do in the workshop?

  • Be guided through a series of light hearted lessons by our two Viking tutors - Sven and Ulrika, in Viking costume.
  • Receive Viking helmets and their very own Viking name for the session, whilst sitting within a mock-up Viking longboat.
  • Learn about Vikings’ daily life at home, at sea, and in battle…
  • Receive their very own Junior Viking Certificate upon completion of their training.

Follow up activities

  • This workshop may be followed up by a visit to Early People on Level -1 of the Scotland galleries.
  • A Vikings Teachers' Pack[1930KB] is available for use in the galleries.
  • You can also book our new Viking handling box. Please ask bookings officer for more information.
