Slingsby T.38 Grasshopper

The design of the Grasshopper is based on a German glider, which first flew in 1938.

The Grasshopper was a basic training glider used by the Air Training Corps in Britain between 1952 and the late 1980s.

Known as the SG.38, it was used to train pilots for the German Air Force, the Luftwaffe, before and during the Second World War.

This Grasshopper was bought from the Royal Air Force in 1979 for £10. It was flown by the Combined Cadet Force at Glenalmond College, near Perth.
