The Jean Muir exhibition ran during 2009 to celebrate the work of this iconic Scottish designer.

"The world's greatest dressmaker", Jean Muir designed clothes that she hoped every woman would wish to wear.

About the exhibition

This exhibition examined Muir's training, early career and emergence as a major designer in the 1960s.

It showcased sketches from Miss Muir's sketch book, along with fabric samples, colour swatches and patterns. Selected garments highlighted Miss Muir's technical brilliance, from her choice of fabric to superlative cut and attention to detail.

The exhibition also highlighted her legacy, and the lasting influence Muir has had on fashion and designers alike.
