Things to see and do

Whether you are interested in exploring the house and learning about costume or having a picnic on the lawn, there's plenty to see and do at this splendid country house museum, set in beautiful wooded grounds.

Inside, the displays in the house offer a fascinating look at some of the different styles and fashions that have been in vogue during the last two centuries.

Some of the rooms reflect how they were used when the Stewart family lived here. Others tell the story of the house, while some areas are whimsical, designed to intrigue and delight. Here are a selection of the rooms you can see.
