The wooded grounds and garden that surround the historic house are worth a visit in themselves. Explore the garden yourself or take part in our nature trail to find out more about the trees and plants, enjoy a picnic or even hire our croquet set (free of charge) for a leisurely game on the lawn.

Willow Lady

Created by local artist Trevor Leat, the giant Willow Lady stands on the terrace lawn in front of Shambellie House.

Made with a combination of dried and living willow, she erupts with buds in the spring.

Scottish-based artist Trevor Leat is one of the foremost creators of willow sculptures in the UK. His artwork has been seen by tens of thousands of festival goers around the country, and his sculptures have been spectacularly burnt at The Wickerman Festival, The Edinburgh Hogmanay Celebrations and The Burns Light Festival in Dumfries.
