Airshow 2009
From high octane aerial displays to historic warbirds to
contemporary military jets - it was all happening at the annual
Airshow this July!
Over 10,500 visitors
flocked to the National Museum of Flight at East Fortune on
Saturday 25 July for the attraction’s annual Airshow.
The crowds were treated to a line-up of spectacular aerial
entertainment including the barnstorming feats of the Team Guinot
Wing-walkers, the impressive Chinook and Lynx helicopters,
aerobatic display team The Blades and the awesome Avro Vulcan
bomber.
Visitors were also able to watch a fly-by from the Battle of
Britain Memorial Flight with its Spitfire, Dakota and Hurricane
aircraft.
On the ground, a host of activities were enjoyed ranging from a
unique 'Meet the Pilot' session with former Concorde Captain, Andy
Baillie, to falconry, mountain biking and archery displays.
Grant
MacKenzie, General Manager at the National Museum of Flight
said:
'We were extremely fortunate to have a glorious sunny day for
the event and the Airshow also gave visitors the chance to see some
of the new attractions that we introduced at the Museum earlier
this year.
'We’re delighted with the success of this year’s Airshow and
hope that many of those who attended will come and visit the Museum
again in the coming weeks and months.'
Many visitors saw the Avro Vulcan fly over East Fortune for the
first time in over 25 years. You can see it yourself here in this
YouTube
