Moving aircraft engines

Hangar to hangar

On Monday 8 March several aircraft engines and the Trident nose were moved from Hangar 2 to Hangar 4 at East Fortune.

This required a crew of 4, 3 museum staff, 2 forklifts, a lorry mounted crane and a low loader heavy goods vehicle! See what went on in the slideshow.

It was an early start at East Fortune, which started at 8am and all engines were safely installed into their new home by 4pm.

That’s not the end of it though, they will need to be placed on display on special racking before they become part of the The Jet Age which opens opens on 1 April.
