Education Centre

We have an active Schools’ Programme, with a range of activities and events designed specifically for both Primary and Secondary School pupils.  Many of our monthly and special events also take place in our Education Centre.

Assault Course

For the mini-commandos in your family!  Challenge them to complete our Assault course – full of hurdles, balance beams, parallel bars, tunnel and a cargo net!
Children to be accompanied by an adult.

Radar Room

See vintage radio, radar and avionics equipment.  Open Wednesday 10:00-12:00, 13:00-16:00, subject to availability.

Aviation Preservation Society Scotland

See APSS volunteers at work on special projects.  Currently, they are constructing a Sopworth 1 ½ Strutter.  Open Wednesdays and Thursdays 10:00-12:00, 13:00-16:00, subject to availability.

The Green Goddess

Bedford RLHZ fire engine, known as the Green Goddess, would have been used by the Auxiliary Fire Service in the aftermath of a nuclear attack.  This particular engine was based here at East Fortune.

The Matador

AEC Matador 4x4 truck was used by all three armed services during the Second World War.  This example is believed to have been used by the RAF in Malta.

Avro 698 Vulcan B.2A XM597, a veteran of the Falklands conflict.

BAC 1-11

Powered by two Rolls-Royce Spey turbojet engines, the BAC 1-11 is one of the most successful British-built jet airliners.

Airfield Explorer

Jump on board and travel around our airfield for free!  Between 11:00-16:00, Airfield Explorer runs a 15 min loop between each of the hangars.  There are pick-up and drop-off points at each hangar, so you can visit the entire site at your leisure. 

Aviator Cafe

Feeling peckish?  Refuel at The Aviator Café with soups, sandwiches, filled rolls, panini, cakes, tea and coffee.  You can eat inside, or make the most of our outdoor space and take your meal to our picnic area.

Shop

Visit our Flight shop for gift ideas and souvenirs – from a selection of model kits, books, kites and gliders to Concorde gifts.

April to October, open every day 10:00-17:00
November to March, open weekends only 10:00-16:00

Adults: £8.50
Concession: £6.50
Children 12 and under free
National Museums Scotland members free

Parking

There is plenty of free parking available at National Museum of Flight.  Coach parking is also available on site.
Three disabled parking spaces are available next to the main hangar, Hangar 4.

Bus stop

First Bus 121 (running between Haddington and North Berwick) comes directly onto the site.  There is a bus stop, timetable and shelter available when it is cold and wet!

Toilets

You’ll find toilets and accessible toilets in Hangar 1, Hangar 4, Fantastic Flight and in our Information Centre. 
Baby Changing rooms are also available in Fantastic Flight, Hangar 4 and the Information Centre.

Access for people with Disabilities

There is plenty of free parking on site, and three disabled parks next to the main hangar. 
There is a level entrance and wheelchair for loan at no charge.
Display areas are all at ground level apart from a small viewing gallery accessible by stair only. 
While the Concorde Experience exhibition is accessible, there is no wheelchair access to the plane itself.
There are ramped access areas into all our hangars and Airfield Explorer.
Adapted toilets with baby-changing facilities are available.
Guide dogs, hearing dogs and other recognised assistance dogs are admitted.
