Visiting with children

Families and children of all ages are welcome at the National Museum of Rural Life. We provide a number of interactive attractions and activities especially for children and an exciting events calendar for all ages.

Facilities for visiting with children

A buggy and pushchair park is available within our award-winning museum building, and a cloakroom for bags and coats. There is also a separate baby changing facilities and a breastfeeding room for nursing mothers.

Eating and drinking

Children are welcome in Sheilings Café and there is a special children's menu, high chairs and a facility for warming baby bottles. Non-museum visitors welcome too.

Want to enjoy the weather and our fantastic grounds outside? Our picnic area is popular with families of all ages. We also have a room indoors for groups with packed lunches.

Access

If you are bringing your own car, our free on-site car park provides easy access to the museum building. The museum building benefits from level access, ramps and lifts, although please note there is no ramp access or lift facility in our Georgian farmhouse. Our farm explorer tractor-trailer provides on-site transport and buggies can be carried on board.

The National Museum of Rural Life has a policy in place if children become separated from their party.
