Stories of the World: Sounds Global

Sounds Global

For many of us, music shapes what we do. We connect music to moments, people or places in our lives. Through personal stories, video and sound, Sounds Global explored how music has the power to change lives.

For the people featured in this exhibition, music is part of their identity. Sounds Global created an intimate space to listen to their stories and music, read about their influences and watch interviews and filmed performances.

You can see a trailer for the film on show in the exhibition below, and find out more about the artists by clicking on the images below. You can see the full film showed in the exhibition here and hear tunes written during our Sounds Global workshops.

About Sounds Global

This exhibition was created with young volunteers, inspired by our Performance and Lives gallery, which features musical instruments from around the world.

Sounds Global is part of Stories of the World, one of the major projects at the heart of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad. You can find out more about the Stories of the World project at National Museums Scotland here.
