Mummy movie vote

Beware the beat of the cloth-wrapped feet! On Saturday 24 March, Egyptologist John J Johnston introduces the exotic and terrifying world of cinematic mummies, followed by a free screening of a Monster Mummy Movie – and we asked you to choose the film.

The votes have been cast and the winning movie, with almost 50% of the vote, is Boris Karloff in The Mummy (1932). The film will be shown in the Auditorium at National Museum of Scotland at 14:45 on Saturday 24 March. Tickets are free, and available for the Museum Information Desk in the Entrance Hall.

Here are the films you chose from:

The Mummy (1932)

Boris Karloff stars as the Ancient Egyptian priest Imhotep, brought back to life in 1921 during an archaeological dig. Will he uncover the tomb of his lost love? Vote for Universal Pictures’ classic black and white mummy movie and you could find out!

The Mummy (1959)

He’s best known for playing Dracula, but here Christopher Lee stars as an Ancient Egyptian high priest intent on wreaking revenge in the 19th century. Can Peter Cushing’s archaeologist defeat him? Vote for Terence Fisher’s Hammer classic for a chance to find out.

Blood from the Mummy’s Tomb (1971)

Based on Bram Stoker’s The Jewel of the Seven Stars, Blood from the Mummy’s Tomb sees an archaeologist’s daughter (Valerie Leon) possessed by the spirit of a powerful Ancient Egyptian queen. Will she escape the mummy’s curse? Vote for this Technicolor Hammer horror if you want to find out.
