About Libby
Aberdeen based Libby Day graduated from Grays School of Art in
2008 with a 1st class honours degree in Three Dimensional Design.
While there, she engaged with traditional and digital methods of
design practice, which inform her work today. Her distinctive
designs have since appeared in exhibitions across the UK.
Libby’s vision
Libby uses a mix of traditional craftsmanship and computer
technology to celebrate the tension between the natural landscape
and built environments. Designs inspired by natural elements are
presented in a structured form, while geometric patterns are given
an organic life.
For Meet Your Maker, she has created elegant, sculptural fruit
bowls inspired by photographs of trees taken from the top of the
National Museum of Scotland. This transformation process can be
seen in her sketchbooks, also on display in the exhibition.
Libby’s work also explores scale. The patterns she creates are
applied across a range of objects, from jewellery and small boxes
to furniture and lighting.
