The talks focus on innovation and pioneering spirit across a wide range of fields, from sports and science to media and the arts, in celebration of the Year of Creative Scotland and UK Year of Creativity..

RBS Museum Talks: Dava Sobel

Date: Fri 6 July
Time: 18:30 – 19:30 (doors open at 18:00)
Cost: £6 (Concessions and Members £5)
Booking: Book tickets online or call 0300 123 6789

Dava Sobel, author of international bestseller Longitude, is in conversation this evening with Professor John C Brown, Astronomer Royal for Scotland, and Dr John C Taylor, creator of the Midsummer Chronophage, a clockwork artwork inspired by 18th century clockmaker John Harrison. Harrison featured as a main character in Longitude, which was adapted in 2000 into a BAFTA-winning TV drama with Michael Gambon. Ms Sobel and Dr Taylor recount how they each drew inspiration for their own work from Harrison and his navigational achievements.
