Dava Sobel, author of international bestseller
Longitude, is in conversation this evening with Professor
John C Brown, Astronomer Royal for Scotland, and Dr John C Taylor,
creator of the Midsummer
Chronophage, a clockwork artwork inspired by 18th century
clockmaker John Harrison. Harrison featured as a main character in
Longitude, which was adapted in 2000 into a BAFTA-winning
TV drama with Michael Gambon. Ms Sobel and Dr Taylor recount how
they each drew inspiration for their own work from Harrison and his
navigational achievements.
