Take part in Book Week Scotland on St Andrew's Day at the National Museum of Scotland. 

The Reading Hour on St Andrew's Day

At 11:00 on 30 November 2012,  thousands of people across Scotland will stop what they’re doing and read. The Reading Hour will happen anywhere and everywhere and you can easily be a part of it.

Join us at the National Museum of Scotland to take part in one of the events below or simply bring along a book, find a quiet corner and read. If you don’t have your own book you can pick up a free copy of ‘My Favourite Place’ or visit our Library or Info Zone for some inspiration.

Meet Alexander McCall Smith

Alexander McCall Smith is one of the world’s most prolific and most popular authors, having written his highly successful No 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series and the Scotland Street novels. Join him at the start of reading hour for a unique chance to enjoy some public readings of his work.
