Fascinating Mummies events for families

From model-making and hieroglyphs to treasure trails and Egyptologists’ tales, you’ll feel like you’re back in Ancient Egypt at our Fascinating Mummies family workshops and activities.

Our Fascinating Mummies events are supported by Allander Print Ltd.

All events are free unless otherwise stated.

Unwrap a Mummy

Dates: Sat 11 – Sun 19 February
Times: 10:30, 11:00, 11:30, 12:00, 13:30, 14:00, 14:30,15:00 (each session lasts 45 mins)
Where: Learning Centre, Level 4
Suitable for: Age 7+
Cost: £3 per session

We need an archaeologist! An Egyptian mummy has been discovered. Can you enter the ceremonial chamber, unwrap the mummy and find out how the person died?

A Slice of Life: Victorian Egyptologist

Our new character, A Victorian Egyptologist, is just back from another expedition.  See what he brought back and hear his tales of burials, tombs and curses.

Pyramid Challenge

Dates: Sat 17 – Sun 18 March
Times: 12:30–16:30 (drop in)

Could you build a pyramid? Try out pyramid designs, or help our guest expert, David Lightbody, build a giant pyramid out of cardboard boxes.

Part of National Science and Engineering Week 2012.

Themed Sunday: Magic Mummies

Make a mummy mask or Egyptian necklace for Mother's Day.

Egypt Extravaganza

Date: Sun 20 – Mon 21 May
Time: 12:30–16:00 (drop in)

A two-day Ancient Egyptian special, with hieroglyphs and pyramids. Bring your own teddy or doll to make into a mummy!
