Mummy Barbie

Themed Sundays

For one Sunday every month we've got great family activities, performances and demonstrations going on at National Museum of Scotland.

Our Sunday events run between 12:30 and 16:30, and are free unless otherwise stated. Most events are drop-in, but some may require sign up on the day.

Sun 20 – 21 May: Egypt Extravaganza

Another holiday weekend of events: this time it's a two-day Ancient Egypt special with hieroglyphs and pyramids. Bring your own teddy or doll to make into a mummy!

A Slice of Life: Egypt!

Date: Sat 19 – Mon 21 May
Times: 11:00–13:00, 14:00–16:00
Venue: Ancient Egypt gallery, Level 3
Cost: Free, drop-in, suitable for everyone

Meet a Victorian Archaeologist recently returned from Egypt and hear tales of tombs, burials and curses!

Object handling with real artefacts from Ancient Egypt

Dates: Sun 20 – Mon 21 May
Time: 12:30–16:30
Venue: Grand Gallery
Cost: Free, drop in

Handle some genuine Ancient Egyptian objects then dress up Egyptian style and have your photo taken!

Magic Mummies

Dates: Sun 20 – Mon 21 May
Time: 12:30–16:30
Venue: Learning Centre, Level 4
Cost: Free, drop in

Make an Egyptian headdress or create your own hieroglyphic warnings to place on the door of your tomb/bedroom. Bring along a doll or teddy to turn into a mummy and we'll provide the bandages and amulets to go inside the wrapping!
