Here's what's happening on the big night...

On arrival: Entrance Hall

Guests with RBS Museum Late/Fascinating Mummies Combo Tickets (£16/18) should enter through the West Door (next to the Brasserie) to collect their exhibition entry wristbands.  

Our Museum Brasserie adds its own taste of Egypt to its menu with North African spiced guinea fowl with tabbouleh and pomegranate seeds. The Brasserie opens from 17:00 - call 0131 247 4040 in advance to be sure of a table.

Grand Gallery

Main Performance Stage: Radio 1’s Ally McCrae is your host for the night.

19:00 – Get the evening started with a chilled DJ set from Fresh Air FM

20:00 – Ally McCrae’s own set of the best in new Scottish music

21:00 – Edinburgh’s own Bwani Junction perform live

22:00 – Glasgow-based Sparrow and the Workshop take to the stage

23:00 – The Millennium Clock chimes goodnight.

Bars: Buy drinks and snacks from the Egyptian-themed benugo bars. Try a Tutankhamorangie, our exclusive cocktail, created specially for the night by Glenmorangie. Last orders: 22:45hrs (ID may be requested for alcohol purchases.)

Fashion Oasis: Check out some of this season’s hottest Ancient Egypt-inspired fashions with the team from Jenners. Watch out for our touring fashion show models weaving through the crowds.

Pharaoh Photos: Game for a laugh? Slip on a Cleo wig, Pharaoh’s head-dress or mummy’s rags and strike a pose next to the Nubian statue. Photos will appear on the museum’s Flickr page.

South Hall and Imagine Gallery

Chillout Zone: Kick back and relax in the South Hall (just through the Discoveries Gallery) with its own micro-bar and retro games.   

Silent Disco: Back by popular demand! Dance to your own personal beat in the weirdly wonderful world of the Imagine gallery. Grab a headset, choose from two Fresh Air DJ sets and pull some shapes under the watchful eye of the giant Chinese Dragon.

Unwrap a Mummy: Feeling brave? Sign up at the desk for this macabre encounter, but be quick as places are limited!

Learning Centre Events Space (Level 2): The Lates Bazaar

• Show a new face to the world with Ancient Egypt-inspired designs by Fantoosh Face Art.  
• Compare the meerkats and meet other cute African critters with Cool Creatures.
• Rise to the challenge of Giant Jenga.
• Pull on white gloves for the chance to examine some amazing artefacts up close.

Ever explored a museum at night? From T.rex to totem poles, our newly refurbished galleries are yours to explore. Tonight’s highlights include:

Natural World: Take a galactic tour with the Universe Odyssey film in the Earth and Space Gallery.

World Cultures Galleries: Find the magic carpet and make a Pharaoh’s headdress.

Connect Gallery: Interactive exhibits galore, including the ever popular F1 Racer. 

Ancient Egypt Gallery (Level 3): Look out for Victorian archaeologist Hector Bruce, just back from another expedition.

Fascinating Mummies Exhibition (Level 3): A special private view for exhibition ticket holders (limited tickets available to buy on the night)

Hands-free zones

To help protect our collections, you’ll be asked to leave food and drink at the entrances when visiting some Galleries. There are plenty of tables to leave your empties on and museum staff on hand to help.

Roving Bloggers

Look out for roving photographers and bloggers seeking vox pops and cool pics for our website. Be creative with what you wear in a subtle homage to Ancient Egypt (fancy dress it isn’t!) to make it onto our Flickr page.
