Visiting with children

Families and children of all ages are welcome at the National War Museum.

Facilities for parents and children

If visiting with young children, we have baby changing facilities available.

Refreshments at Edinburgh Castle are provided by Historic Scotland in one of its three cafes on site, which are equipped with seating facilities for babies and provide family-friendly meals. Want to enjoy the weather outside? Our picnic area is popular with families of all ages.

The National War Museum has a policy in place if children become separated from their party.

Access to the Museum

Situated within a historic former munitions building within the castle walls, the National War Museum does not have level access past the ground floor, although an escalator is available. Edinburgh Castle provides on-site transport from the esplanade into the Crown Square at the top of the castle.

There are limited spaces for disabled visitors at the castle, please book in advance bay calling 0131 310 5114.

More information for visitors is available from the Edinburgh Castle website.
