Shetland fiddle live!

Our new video captures the vibrant sound of the Shetland fiddle, played live in Lerwick.

Six musicians from Anderson High School, all winners of the prestigious Young Fiddler of the Year competition, were given the chance to play the fiddle at a free concert held in the Shetland Museum and Archives.

This traditional fiddle was created specially for National Museums Scotland by Shetland fiddle-maker, Ewen Thomson.

The fiddle will be displayed in the Performance and Lives gallery of the redeveloped National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh when it re-opens in 2011.

You can see clips from the concert and find out more about this very special instrument here.
