Dinner in the Board Room

Board and Bute Rooms

The stunning circular Board and Bute Rooms are considered by many to be the National Museum of Scotland's jewel in the crown.

These distinguished rooms enjoy a magnificent perspective over Edinburgh's historic Old Town and Edinburgh Castle. The Bute Room is a stunning circular room with a beautiful tapestry carpet which adds colour and depth to the dramatic and imposing setting. This versatile and flexible space can be set up to accommodate any style of event and is suitable for meetings, receptions and dinners.

Directly above the Bute Room the Boardroom is one of the most sought after venues in Edinburgh. With arguably the best view of the Castle in the city, it is a spectacular setting for meeting, reception and dinners. With its stunning circular burr maple wood table, comfortable sofas and cushions, guests can relax with a coffeeor liqueur after dinner admiring the beauty of the Edinburgh skyline.

These beautiful rooms have a further well kept secret - a private roof terrace accessed via the Boardrooms. This terrace can be used for pre-dinner drinks and canapés in the summer months, and guests have access to this terrace throughout the year to enjoy the fabulous view.

Uniquely in the National Museum of Scotland these rooms are available for use during the daytime as well as in the evening and are ideally suited for receptions and smaller dinners.  Catering can be offered in these spaces by the Tower Restaurant or Heritage Portfolio.  Please contact the Events Team for menus & prices.
