Shambellie House in spring

National Museum of Costume

At Shambellie House in the rolling Dumfriesshire countryside, Victorian graces are rekindled. The National Museum of Costume showcases period clothes in authentic settings, complete with furniture and decorative art, narrating social events from the 1850s.

With such a fairy-tale setting the house lends itself perfectly to weddings, drinks receptions, dinners or location filming. Elegant dinners and wonderful wedding ceremonies and receptions can take place in a marquee in the grounds of Shambellie House, and the house itself can be open after hours for guests to view the exhibits. We can accommodate drinks reception for up to 70 guests in the house itself.
