Carson a tha sinn a’ fastadh?

Aig Taighean-tasgaidh Nàiseanta na h-Alba, tha sinn a’ glèidheadh chruinneachaidhean a tha cudromach aig ìre nàiseanta agus eadar-nàiseanta. Tha am beartas stòrasan againn mar thoradh air dà cheud bliadhna de thional a bhuineas ri gach nì eadar arc-eòlas Albannach agus clasaigeach chun nan ealan sgeadachail is nan ealan gnìomhach; eadar cultaran an t-saoghail agus saidheans, teicneòlas is an saoghal nàdarra.

Tha sinn an-dràsta a’ tabhann trì tursan an-asgaidh don mhòr-shluagh gach latha:

11:00 Rannsaich an Taigh-tasgaidh Nàiseanta

13:00 Turas air Prìomh Ulaidhean Ghailearaidhean na h-Alba

15:00 Turas Cuspaireil

Tha sinn cuideachd a’ tabhann thursan clàraichte (cosgais na lùib) do ghrunn bhuidhnean. Airson tuilleadh fiosrachaidh, faicibh  www.nms.ac.uk/tours

Tha sgioba mòr againn de threòraichean dealasach agus tha sinn airson treòraichean a bhruidhneas Gàidhlig a chur ris an sgioba.

Dè tha a dhìth oirnn?

Tha an Tuairisgeul-obrach airson Treòraiche Saor-thoileach a’ toirt seachad geàrr-iomradh air na bhios treòraichean a’ dèanamh. Is dòcha gu bheil sibh fhèin air turas a ghabhail, agus gum faca sibh na bhios iad ris!

Tha sinn a’ sireadh treòraiche a tha airson na tursan Rannsaich an Taigh-tasgaidh Nàiseanta agus/no Turas air Prìomh Ulaidhean Ghailearaidhean na h-Alba a leasachadh.

Bhiodh sibh ag obair còmhla ri Treòraiche a tha san dreuchd mar-thà, a bhiodh na neach-stiùiridh agaibh airson ur cuideachadh is tu fhèin a’ dealbhadh turais – na bithibh eagal oirbh, cha leig sibh a leas a bhith uile-fhiosrach mus tòisich sibh ach deònach ionnsachadh, agus bidh agaibh ri beagan rannsachaidh a dhèanamh air ur ceann fhèin.

Bhiodh sinn toilichte nam b’ urrainn dhuibh obair a dhèanamh aig an deireadh-sheachdain m.e. aon latha air an deireadh-sheachdain gach mìos airson turas uair a thìde.  Ach, tha an ròta air leth sùbailte, agus faodaidh e freagradh air na h-amannan as urrainn dhuibh a bhith an làthair.

Information for volunteers

Why are we recruiting?

At National Museums Scotland, we care for collections of national and international importance.  Our wealth of treasures represent more than two centuries of collecting.  Collections take in everything from Scottish and classical archaeology to decorative and applied arts; from world cultures and social history to science, technology and the natural world.  Our collections are a legacy which we look after on behalf of all Scots.

A key part of our public programme for adults is our popular volunteer-guide led tours, attended by almost 10,000 people each year. At present we offer three free tours for the public every day:

11:00 Discover the National Museum

13:00 Scotland Galleries Highlights tour

15:00 Themed tour

We also offer pre-booked tours (at a charge) for a range of groups. For more information, visit www.nms.ac.uk/tours

We have a large and enthusiastic team of guides and we are looking to recruit Gaelic speaking guides to join our existing team

What do we need?

The Volunteer Guide role description gives you an overview of what the guides do. You may well have been on a tour already to see what they do for yourself!

We are looking for guides who would like to develop a Discover the National Museum tour and/or a Scotland Galleries Highlights tour.

You would work with an existing Guide as a mentor to help you develop a tour – don’t worry, you don’t need to know everything before you start, just be willing to learn and do some of your own research.

Some weekend availability is welcomed e.g. one weekend day per month to give a one-hour tour. However, the rota is very flexible, and can work around your availability each month.
