Impact Arts’ Gallery 37 programme uses a variety of artistic and creative approaches to engage young people aged 14-19 who are at risk of disengaging from school.

Working with professional artists, young people engage in an intensive programme that lasts 1-4 weeks and culminates in an exciting showcase. #ArtChangesLives

Gallery 37

  • Is a celebration of young people and their creativity.
  • Uses a variety of art forms, including visual art, fashion, digital, performance, music, animation, and design.
  • Empowers young people to gain increased confidence, social and communication skills, teamwork and creative skills.
  • Encourages young people to stay in education or training.
  • Enables young people to work towards their Arts Award.

This year was our fourth year collaborating with National Museums Scotland, using their collections and knowledge as inspiration for our final showcase.

The theme for this year’s Gallery 37 programme will support the Heritage Lottery’s aims and was inspired by the film ‘1 Nation, 5 Million Voices’ which is housed within the Scotland: A Changing Nation gallery. Through a variety of art forms, young people were able to interpret the theme of ‘Heritage’ whilst considering the similarities and differences of people living in Scotland today.

The showcase event celebrating the young people’s journeys took place on 13 August 2015. You can follow the progress of the event on Twitter and see are artworks, animation and performances on the Impact Arts YouTube channel.

This year’s programme was funded by Inspiring Scotland and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
