How should I prepare my class for this workshop?

Pupils will work in teams of four, competing against teams from other schools. Maximum 20 pupils (five teams) from each school at each Challenge Day. You can also attend our Get Energised CPD sessions.

At the National Museum of Scotland, you can also visit our new Art, Design, Fashion, Science and Technology galleries during the day. Download our guidelines to find out more.

What will my pupils do in the workshop?

Pupils will:

  • Work in groups to complete a range of challenges relating to renewable energy. There are four challenges: marine, wind, solar and hydro. Each school will be split across these challenges, and pupils will complete two challenges throughout the day.
  • Use a range of skills and knowledge to complete challenges, including map-reading, data analysis, model-building, and team working skills such as communication and decision making.
  • Present their findings in teams after each challenge to their peers and an industry expert.

There will be one winning team per challenge and these teams will be presented with a prize at the end of the day.
