What will my pupils do in the workshop?

Where does our food come from? Join us as we explore the journey of your food from the soil to your plate. Investigate food production technologies past and present, and the impact they have on the world around us and the food we eat.

In this workshop pupils will:

  • learn about the importance of soil and its place in global ecosystems
  • discover the links between soil and food production
  • explore the diversity of soils across Scotland; including:
  1. a focus on their local area and the foods grown/reared there
  2. a comparative focus on another part of Scotland and the foods grown/reared there
  3. have a go at planting a seed to take home, learning to care for a food crop.
