In February 2019, a new gallery opened at the National Museum of Scotland, dedicated to ancient Egypt. Explore the gallery using Hedjet the Hippo's Ancient Egyptian Adventure trail sheet.

How should I prepare my pupils?

The ancient Egypt gallery can be busy. Please split your class into smaller groups and assign one adult per group.

Schools visiting the gallery can use our trail sheet to discover more which will be led by our new character, Hedjet the Hippo. We suggest you share the Teachers' Notes with your adult helpers beforehand.

What will we do?

Visit our ancient Egypt gallery to find out more about a range of fascinating objects. Highlights include the Qurna burial, the only intact royal burial group outside of Egypt, a gold ring said to have belonged to Queen Nefertiti and a cast of the Rosetta stone. 

Schools visiting the gallery can use our trail sheet to discover more which will be led by our new character, Hedjet the Hippo. It takes classes around different levesl.
