How should I prepare my pupils?

Your class will be sitting in rows, similar to a theatre, for this event. Please let us know on the day if you have any children that you'd like to sit at the end of a row.

We will ask before your visit for you to select one pupil per class to take part in a game at the front of our Auditorium, and one pupil per class to ask a question to our curators.

What will we do?

Our new ancient Egypt gallery contains amazing objects that have never been seen by visitors before. Who did they belong to? What can they tell us about the ancient Egyptians? Find out more as your class meet the experts working behind the scenes at the museum in this event in our Auditorium.

In November, pupils will meet Dr Dan Potter, in March and May, pupils will meet Dr Margaret Maitland. Both worked on the new ancient Egypt gallery and will reveal secrets behind some of the objects that pupils can see during their visit. Pupils will also hear about how Dan and Margaret came to work in museums, and what they were interested in when they were in Primary 3!

Classes will compete against museum staff in our ancient Egyptian picture quiz to win a prize.

After the event, you will also have time to visit our ancient Egypt gallery on a teacher-led visit. You can download trails below for your class to use.
