The National Fund for Acquisitions (NFA) helps museums, galleries, libraries and archives throughout Scotland to make acquisitions for their collections.

About the National Fund for Acquisitions

National Museums Scotland manages the Fund on behalf of the Scottish Government. Grant applications are processed in consultation with our specialist staff, the National Galleries of Scotland and the National Library of Scotland. We work together to promote the Fund, its activity and benefits to users of Scotland’s collections.

In 2017-18 the Fund made 48 payments totalling £129,085  to 29 organisations across Scotland. The total purchase value of the objects to which the Fund contributed was £367,740. You can apply to the NFA for assistance with a purchase if you meet the Fund guidelines.
