About Celebrating Carnival: Collective Costume Making
Join us in the Grand Gallery and help create a Carnival costume from donated and recycled material.
Design and decorate a strip of fabric that we will add to our collective costume during the week. Discover some of the history behind the colourful Carnival costumes.
If you would like a little token of your visit, head over to our Sailor’s Valentine craft to make your own version of this historic Caribbean keepsake made from seashells inspired by our collection.
This event is part of a week celebrating Scottish Caribbean culture and Edinburgh Festival Carnival at the National Museum of Scotland with CaribScotFest and the Edinburgh Caribbean Association.
Edinburgh Caribbean Association was founded by Lisa Williams in 2015 to celebrate and promote the rich heritage of Caribbean culture in Scotland and to bring people and communities together.
