About Find Out Fridays
Explore a different theme each week on Friday afternoons with our Learning team.
Find out fascinating facts and hear surprising stories about our collections and get hands on with some of our favourite objects. Take part in a practical demonstration or have a go at a quick craft activity.
Find our Spark Cart in the Grand Gallery from 13:30 – 16:00 on Fridays during school term-time.
January programme
9 Jan – Forces of Flight
Discover what it takes to get off the ground in our first Find Out Friday of the new year.
16 Jan – Scottish animals
Learn about some of Scotland's incredible wildlife, past and present, and how our ecosystems have changed over time.
23 Jan – Fossils
Get hands on with some of our favourite fossils and find out how they were formed millions of years ago.
30 Jan – Galaxies
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away... Join our learning team to explore outer space.

Please note that there will be no Find Out Friday on:

- Friday 3, 10 & 17 April
Accessibility and facilities
We want everyone who comes to our museums to enjoy their time with us and make the most of their visit.
Museum entrances
There is level access to the Museum via the main doors to the Entrance Hall on Chambers Street and the Tower entrance at the corner of Chambers Street and George IV Bridge.
Lifts
Lifts are available to all floors of the museum.
Toilets
There are toilets on most levels of the museum, including accessible toilets and baby changing facilities. There is a Changing Places (U) toilet in the Entrance Hall on Level 0.
Borrow a wheelchair
Wheelchairs are available for loan at no charge. Please note wheelchairs cannot be booked in advance. On arrival, ask about availability at the Information Desk.
Small mobility scooters are permitted inside the museum.
Assistance dogs
Guide dogs, hearing dogs and other recognised assistance dogs are admitted.
