Museum Late: Big Burns Ceilidh

Grab your pals for a night of reels and revelry and join the party in Scottish style.

The fantastic Jacobites Ceilidh Band will get you twirling and birling through Strip the Willow, Dashing White Sergeant and other traditional dances in one of Scotland’s biggest ceilidhs. 

Set in the museum’s majestic Grand Gallery, all dances are suitable for beginners with no previous experience necessary. Our caller will guide you through the steps on the night.   

Between dances enjoy drinks, food, activities and explore a selection of the museum galleries at night.  

It’s big, it’s busy, it’s braw!  

The night will include

• Ceilidh in the Grand Gallery 
• Scottish themed craft, dressing up and other activities
• Bars and food 
• Access to a selection of our galleries.

Good to know

• Doors open at 18:30 to our Entrance Hall and Museum Kitchen. The event begins at 19:30. 
• Please note that the Grand Gallery where the ceilidh will take place gets very full and busy with dancing
• There is a small area of accessible seating near to the sound desk, and a limited number of benches and other seating are located throughout event areas
• The event features loud music - please be aware if you are sensitive to noisy environments.

Cloakroom

A paid cloakroom will be available on the night (£2 per item, card only). Please only bring with you what you need at the event and do not leave coats and bags on the floor or on museum objects.
