Join us for the Annual Open Evening to find out more about our collections, the work that we do, and to hear about our plans for the future across all our museums.

The event will be hosted by Ian Russell, our Chair, and Dr Chris Breward, our Director.

There will also be a special introduction to our planned Summer exhibition. Following presentations there will be the opportunity for Q and As.

This is a free but ticketed event. Please arrive via our Lothian Street / Brighton Street entrance at the back (south side) of the National Museum of Scotland. Tea and coffee will be available on arrival.

Visiting safely

A range of safety measures have been put in place for this event in line with Scottish Government guidelines. This includes pre-booked tickets, face coverings, enhanced cleaning and hand sanitising stations. Audience seating in the auditorium will not be physically distanced. Speakers will not wear masks during the event, but they will be physically distanced from the audience and each other.
We want you to have a safe and enjoyable visit.

During your visit, we ask you to:

• Use the hand sanitiser provided.
• Wash your hands often.
Face coverings must be worn by visitors over 12 in our indoor spaces.
• Please do not visit the museum if you or anyone in your household has any symptoms of Coronavirus.

When you book we will also collect your name, contact number and the date and time of your visit to support NHS Scotland’s Test and Protect service and we may share this information with the service up to 21 days following your visit.
