Members’ Spotlight: Behind the Scenes at the Collection Centre
28 Oct 2021
Go behind the scenes with us and journey through time via our rich and diverse collections
National Museums Collection Centre is home to over 12 million fascinating objects and specimens, ranging from a beetle measuring less than a millimetre to a 1920s steam excavator nearly eight metres wide and weighing 25 tonnes.
Join us as Chanté St Clair Inglis, Head of Collections Services, takes us behind the scenes at the Collections Centre with Dr Matthew Knight, Senior Curator of Prehistory, Lynn McClean, Principal Conservator of Paper and Textiles and Fiona Ware, Curator of Invertebrate Biology.
The event will be followed by a Q&A session where you will have the opportunity to put your questions to the panel.
Step back to the Bronze age and discover how the meaning of objects can transform across space and time. Unravel the many detailed layers of textile conservation and explore the extraordinary diversity of life in our seas.
