Amulet

Description

Sheet of shaped, beaten and embossed gold, once encasing a core of wood or used to encase an amulet consisting of a sheet of paper with Arabic verses copied from the Qu'ran, which was probably attached to a headress and worn as part of cheifly regalia: Africa, West Africa, Ghana, Asante people, taken at the capture of Kumasi (1873 - 1874), mid 18th century
