Description

Skirt or petticoat of woman's court mantua, in cream silk brocaded in coloured silks with floral design and a pattern of snaking bands of stripes in gold, very wide, shaped to be worn with a hoop or panniers, waisband bound with linen tape: British, probably 1750s
