Get Energised was a science, engineering and technology engagement programme which ran until June 2019. A range of sessions and resources are still available:

Renewable Energy: Power House Workshop

National Museum of Scotland

P5-P7 pupils

Pupils investigate solar and wind power through a range of hands-on STEM activities. Classes then build their own energy-efficient town and calculate how to power it using renewable energy sources. You can find a workshop outline and book here.

Wind Energy Outreach kit

An outreach kit for secondary schools is available to borrow from Aberdeen Science Centre. It contains activities based around wind turbines for pupils studying BGE Science and National Qualification Physics. For more information, or to book, contact education@asc.scot

The films below can be used as a basis for class discussion.

Energy talking points

Why should we consider alternative energy sources? How is energy generation changing in Scotland? These are just some of the talking points explored in this short film featuring pupils, teachers, and those working in the renewable energy industry. The film features pupils and teachers taking part in our Get Energised programme at the National Museum of Scotland.

Careers in renewable energy

What’s it like to work in the renewable energy industry? In this film we hear from a range of experts and find out why it’s so important for young people to think about a future career in the STEM industries – Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. The film features pupils and teachers taking part in our Get Energised programme at the National Museum of Scotland.

Renewable energy talking points

Why should we develop renewable energy in Scotland? What’s exciting about renewable energy? These are just some of the talking points explored in this short film featuring pupils, teachers, and those working in the renewable energy industry.
