With funding from The National Lottery Fund through the Heritage Lottery Fund, we will extend the reach and impact of the new ancient Egypt and East Asia galleries beyond our walls through an extensive national programme.
From now until March 2020, National Museums Scotland will be working with museums across Scotland to discover and reveal new and interesting stories about their ancient Egyptian, Chinese, Japanese and Korean collections.
The programme will include a touring Ancient Egyptian exhibition and development of new East Asia displays at partner museums, alongside digital resources, learning resources and a skills development programme. The aim of the programme is not only to extend our knowledge about these collections, but also to support new ways of using ancient Egyptian and East Asian objects to encourage greater access for local communities.
Throughout the project we will share some of the stories that emerge on the National Museums Scotland blog.
