The C42 is a microlight, an aeroplane with a maximum take-off weight of 450 kg (992 lb).

A popular aircraft at flying clubs, more than 1,200 have been built since 1996 as it is relatively cheap and easy to fly. It can cost as little as £32,000 whereas a light aircraft can cost more than £200,000.

This C42 was operated by the Scottish Flying Club at Strathaven Airfield in Lanarkshire. Its last flight was in May 2010. The aircraft flew a total of 1,036 hours.
