Join us this autumn for Go Wild activities at National Museum of Rural Life, East Kilbride.

#GoWild

Our programme of family activities returns this October with lots of school holiday fun for active adventurers. Enjoy welly walks, hands-on crafts and bird-themed activities, from bird meet and greets to the chance to make your own bird feeder with the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds. On Saturday and Sunday, City of Play will return with their popular den-building sessions.

The RSPB

Dates: Mon 15 – Fri 19
Time: 12:00 – 16:00 (Drop-in)
Learning Centre
Meet the team from the RSPB to learn more about how to help the birds in your garden this winter.

Kestrel Kraft

Dates: Mon 15 – Sun 21
Time: 12:00 – 16:00 (Drop-in)
Learning Centre
Decorate and take home one of our pop-out flying kestrels.

Bird Watching Welly Walks

Dates: Mon 15 – Fri 19
Time: 15:00 – 16:00 (Sign up on the day)
Meet at the front desk
A wee walk with feathery facts and fun activities. How many birds can you spot?

Rhuallan Raptors

Dates: Tue 16 – Thurs 18
Time: 12:00 – 16:00 with flying demo at 14:30 (drop-in)
Picnic Field
Join the team from Rhuallan Raptors who will introduce you to their birds of prey and learn some of the techniques used to train falconry birds with a flying demo at 14:30.

Den building with the City of Play

Dates: Sat 20 – Sun 21

Time: 12:00 – 16:00 (participants must sign up at the City of Play gazebo)
Courtyard
Join The City of Play and help us build our very own town! Using tools and working with architects children can build their own den and play village.

Our child-friendly activities are designed with families in mind. You are welcome to see which is the most suitable for your little ones though younger visitors will need assistance from parents or carers to complete some tasks. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
