Real objects and our team of academic experts reveal the Jacobite story.

This free three week online course covers the Jacobite campaigns, from the exile of James VII & II in 1688 to Bonnie Prince Charlie and the Battle of Culloden in 1746.

Inspired by our exhibition Bonnie Prince Charlie & the Jacobites, which runs at the National Museum of Scotland from 23 June-12 November 2017, we explore an outstanding collection of objects and paintings associated with the kings, queens, princes and politicians of this turbulent period in British and European history.

You can study with us, online, from anywhere in the world, and will have a unique opportunity to use this rich material culture to understand the enduring appeal of the ‘romantic Jacobite’.

In the film below, Principal Curator David Forsyth explains what the course has to offer.
