Science Festival for everyone

Existence: Life and Beyond

How did there come to be life on Earth, how has it changed, and what might it be like to live on our planet in the future? What might life be like beyond the Earth, for us and anything – or anyone – that’s out there?

This interactive exhibition will take you on an amazing journey to the outer reaches of life as we know it, from the origins of life on Earth to what’s next for future generations.

Taking centre stage is Event Horizon, a new colossal work which will be created live by artist Jason Hackenwerth and then suspended in the museum’s Grand Gallery. Two immersive exhibition zones and two specially-commissioned digital installations by local artists will complete the experience.

Existence: Life and Beyond has been programmed with assistance from the Science Festival’s Youth Consultation Group who will also be organising a pop-up event around the exhibition.
